Wakefield Recreation Department is contemplating moving the skate park to a more user friendly area at the ballpark. This would allow more visibility, more use, easier access for parents, police, & ems, and help centrally locate all our activities.
The current location is difficult to access for police and EMS as we only have a six foot right of way walking path into the park. Also in its current location it is somewhat secluded. If we were to put the skate park in a more open area we believe it would be used much more and be a safer environment for all.
One concern we’ve heard is it won’t be in the center of town and would be more difficult for kids to get to the ballfields. We have come up with a way to solve that problem. We would have a bus leave the school at 3:15pm and transport kids to the ballpark for practices and to use the facilities.
